Manager, Broadband Service

Reports to - Divisional Manager – Network Development

Accountabilities – Your job profile will include, but not be limited to, the following –

• Hands on design and upgrading of Broadband infrastructure.
• Evaluate proposed changes to the broadband infrastructure and make recommendations.
• Coordinate and facilitate project approval, RFQ, vendor selection and product management up until the commercial launch of services.
• Assess the impact and potential of new broadband technologies
• Evaluate recommended suitable BB technologies suitable for different segments of society
• Establish forecast procedures from concerned departments and estimate traffic demand for future mobile & fixed broadband services
• Plan and implement convergence of mobile & fixed broadband services
• Translate medium and long term architecture plans into yearly design objectives
• Participate in deciding on the broadband technology road map
• Participate in tender/technology evaluation
• Coordinate with network operations, project management & network development teams
• Prepare budget forecast for CAPEX and OPEX requirements

Competencies :

• Develops and executes medium and long term planning for Broadband Services in line with strategic requirements.
• These include Broadband design, deployment & interoperability etc.
• Managing the product launch as per schedule.
• Maximizing the infrastructure use to tap the revenues as per business case.
• Successful introduction cost effective / revenue generating products
• Maintain the state of art broadband technology.
• Within the company, the role-holder has significant interface within the Networks division, Consumer BU, Corporate BU, Group Strategy and IT.
• Externally, the role-holder has significant contact with suppliers.
• Responsible for day to day tactical decisions.
• Responsible to motivate and manage the teams.
• Has a significant role in evaluating and making recommendations to Divisional Manager and BU Director about broadband service capabilities & choice of best broadband technology.

Preferred Background

• Bachelor Degree in telecoms engineering or equivalent.
• 10 years experience in data/narrowband/broadband service offerings or related field in telecom service provider organizations.

Experience & Skills – The ideal applicant should have:

Minimum Experience & Essential Knowledge:

• 10 years experience in telecoms engineering with significant skills in project management.
• Excellent knowledge of Broadband Service deployment & product management with specific focus on mobile broadband & charging systems.
• Experience in evaluating and implementing new technologies.
• Business knowledge particularly cash flows & financial justifications.
• Experience in vendor management, vendor selection process and negotiation skills.
