CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER
Department: Technology (Network & IT)
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Job Purpose: Management and leadership of the technical team to develop, deploy and support the WPT network and the IT team focused on meeting all IT Infrastructure needs of the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead a high level network strategy planning team to create the network strategic and operations plan. Determine where the network will be designed, built and maintained using internal resources and where work will be outsourced.
- Oversee the selection and contracting process for network related equipment and services. Ensure that the team leverages the business opportunity with vendors to maximize the planning and support services included in vendor bid packages.
- Manage the design and build of all network components.
- Oversee all facets of network operations including telephony service and support infrastructures for billing, CRM, etc.
- Manage the company’s IT programs designed to support the day-to-day computing and telephony needs of the business including hardware, software, systems administration, user support and security.
- Maintain and develop industry knowledge including awareness of emerging companies, products and industry leaders
- Serve as a member of the senior team of the company.
- Manage the overall strategy for the network ensuring that this is fully intertwined into the next generation plans.
- Be involved in hiring, training, and retaining competent staff
- Additional duties as assigned
- Five or more years experience in the lead network management role in a wireless company equivalent to the role of CTO or Technology Director. At least 15 years experience in combination of network engineering, operations, maintenance, Senior IT role.

- Thorough end to end understanding of the network design, build and operations process and network components
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people including participate in highly technical discussions with engineers and systems designers
- Drive to stay ahead of changes in technology and visioning and planning skills to foresee opportunities created by technology to improve the network, create new services and utilize new products to stay ahead of the telecom evolution curve
- Strong analytical skills are required to address complex issues
- Able to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, legal documents or government regulations
- Able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies or members of the business and general community at large
- Must have a positive professional demeanor and approach when conducting business with internal and external customers
- Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, clients, public groups, and/or boards of directors
- Project management, vendor negotiations and contracting skills. Strong influencing skills
- Ability to balance the needs of the technical organization responsible for the customer network with the IT needs of the company as a whole
- Strong bias for leaders teach model and for driving a focus on continuous improvement and quality management throughout the organization.
Education:
- Advanced degree in engineering or related field. Experience in Information Technology in support of company-wide computing needs.
