Key Words:

• Knowledge of RDBMS; Oracle preferred
• Prior experiences with Cognos & ETL experience
• Knowledge of Business Objects Universe and Webi
• 5 years experience out of which 2 years should be in a similar job.
• Bachelors Degree in accounting, finance, business or Bachelors Degree in IT.

A. ROLE & CONTEXT

Purpose:

To provide systems support on Cognos Enterprise Planning (EP) and Controller to ensure the efficiency of financial reporting, budgeting and planning and to provide, as much as possible, a single source of data with common definitions for subsidiary and Group reporting.

Context:

As member; of Revenue Assurance & Risk Management, Group Finance, to focus on Cognos Solution. Short and medium term, Financial Systems Support Analyst is needed to assist Financial Systems Consolidation Controller with the support on the existing Cognos Infrastructure in order to automate the entire close process, from data collection to financial consolidation to output. To work extensively; on the Cognos Planning, Analyst and Contributor administration in terms of architecture; configuration, access and maintenance. Failure in these tasks would mean inadequate data from subsidiaries for group finance to prepare management reports

B. ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

Overview

• Day to day responsibility will include supporting the existing Cognos Enterprise Planning process, working with the Investment Management team, and providing support on the Daily Flash, Monthly Closing, Quarterly Forecasting, and Annually Budgeting process.
• Be responsible for maintaining existing Cognos Planning models and the full Cognos Enterprise Planning infrastructure and financial models utilizing Cognos Analyst and Cognos Contributor.
• Utilize ETL and Data Warehouse to assist data collection from subsidiaries to Cognos environments.
• Using Business Objects for analysis and reporting purposes.
• Produce clearly written and well organized documentation.
• The role holder will have an understanding of the financial forecasting and reporting process.
• Develops and maintains positive working relationships with subsidiary and Group finance staff.
• Rapidly gains detailed understanding of subsidiary practices and procedures.
• Conduct special projects concerning support and development of ERP.
• Compile reports on a monthly/quarterly and annual basis as required.
• Be willing and able to travel, occasionally at short notice, and operate effectively in field under tight time constraints.
• At all times, represent Corporate Finance and the Group to the highest ethical and professional standards.

Business orientation

In order to allow the Group to leverage the current Cognos investments while ensuring that centralized systems meet the demand for secure and reliable data, this role will play a significant part to assist the entire budgeting and planning process, to reduce budgeting and planning cycle times while data integrity is assured, to reduce risk and provide the Group Finance with an enterprise view of key financial ratios and results, to improve efficiency of financial and management reports, to support strategic decision making across the group.

Customers

Customers for this role are Investment Management staff, Group & subsidiary finance staff & relevant systems end users.

Problem Solving

With the growth of the company and more acquisitions the role holder will need to:

• Test internal calculations and formatting
• Systems administration and control (e.g. set up user rights and security) Complete macros, end-user interface and maintenance screens
• Assist with migration of the models from development to test and production environments
• Import data into models and ensure identification and correction of errors
• Conduct cross-model testing and data flow
• Document the built solution for reference purposes
• Work closely with clients to transfer model ownership to client-side administrators.

Planning & Organising

Using experience with group accounting, the role holder needs to plan and organize related tasks build models and related multidimensional cubes with proper access rights for the systems end users ahead of budgeting and planning cycle, and to conduct stress testing with clear written scenarios.

• Ensure that the systems are available for end users.
• Design and generate required reports to support the Group Finance.

• Impact from this role will be felt across the organization’s profitability and will be significant as the organization needs adequate data for management reporting and statutory reporting.

• Role holder will be interfacing with operating subsidiaries staff mostly with Finance and IT, and  Group accounting and finance staff.

• Keen to learn, as will be undergoing significant amount of training.

• English fluency is required.
